SACO SCHOOLS NUTRITION PROGRAM
The cafeteria staff look forward to welcoming your children to the cafeteria and serving students healthy and tasty meals! Our menus meet tough new federal nutrition standards for school meals, ensuring that meals are healthy, well-balanced and provide students the nutrition they need to grow and succeed at school. Menus offer several choices each day, and provide age-appropriate calorie limits, larger servings of fruits & veggies, fat-free white and chocolate, and lowfat white milk, more whole grains, and less sodium. Now is a great time to encourage your kids to choose school lunch - a great value and a huge convenience for busy families!
Free & Reduced Price Meals Applications:
Many families are struggling with loss of income or increased expenses, and approval for free or reduced meals can really help out, so if you feel your child(ren) may be eligible, please apply! If you qualify for free meals, you will be saving your family about $80 a month per child, which is the monthly cost for school breakfast & lunch. Only one application is needed per family, so just list all children on one application, then return it to any school (not Thornton Academy), where it will be forwarded to the Nutrition Program Director, who will determine if your child(ren) qualify for free or reduced price meals. Letters or emails will be sent within ten days letting you know if your family qualifies. Eligibility will be kept confidential in the Nutrikids computerized food program, and meals will be processed just as they are for all other students. Parents can read more by clicking the link to access the Parent Letter for Free and Reduced Meals.
Parents/ guardians MUST FILL OUT a NEW free & reduced application EVERY school year if you wish to apply for free or reduced price meals, so please complete the application.
Complete online securely and confidentially!

Payment for School Meals Made Convenient and Easy!

School meals are a great value and a huge convenience for busy families!
Whenever your child purchases breakfast, lunch, or milk/ a la carte, the
cost is deducted from your child’s school meals account. Just like a debit
bank account, money must be paid in advance on your child’s school meals
account before your child makes purchases, avoiding “charging” if no money
is in their account. Children are only allowed to charge up to 3 lunches,
after which time an alternate meal (ham or cheese sandwich) may be served
instead of the regular menu item. Parents are responsible for monitoring
their child’s account, since we do not send home bills. We encourage
parents to sign up online at My School Bucks <myschoolbucks.com>,
so you can pay online, check your child’s account balance, see what meals
your child is eating, and receive email reminders when the account gets
low. Online prepayment is a convenient, easy and secure way to deposit
money into your child’s school meals account. If sending in payment by
check or cash, please include student’s name or ID number on the check, and
make checks payable to Saco School Nutrition Program. If checks are
returned to us for insufficient funds, a $25 fee will be deducted from your
child’s account.
Questions regarding your child’s account balance, purchases or payments: please view online at www.MySchoolBucks.com, or call your child’s school before 1:00 p.m. and ask to speak to the Kitchen Manager:
