Saco Middle School (SMS) is proud to announce the appointment of Ben Fogg as the school’s new Assistant Principal. An alumnus of Biddeford Schools, Fogg brings more than two decades of educational experience to his new role, including ten years focused on middle-level instruction.
A graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Fogg went on to earn a Master of Science in Adult and Higher Education and a Certificate in Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Maine. He has taught sixth-grade social studies, English language arts, science, and, most recently, eighth-grade history and economics for the past five years. His professional service includes music instruction at River Tree Arts and Biddeford Adult Education, and publications in MEA Magazine, WRIT Literary Magazine, and Zephyr Literacy Journal. He was also the recipient of the Hometown Hero Award in 2024.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Saco Middle School team as Assistant Principal,” said Ben Fogg. “It is truly an honor to serve a community that has had such a lasting impact on my life. I look forward to working alongside students, families, and staff to continue building a positive school culture where everyone feels supported, heard, and valued.”
Saco Middle School Principal Marie Soucy shared her enthusiasm for the new addition to the leadership team. “Mr. Fogg’s extensive classroom experience, coupled with his deep commitment to students and families, makes him a tremendous asset to our school. His focus on building strong relationships and supporting both academic and personal growth aligns perfectly with our vision for Saco Middle School. We are excited to welcome him to our community.”
Fogg’s leadership will focus on supporting students in taking ownership of their learning, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones and embrace challenges, while also empowering teachers to use their creativity to enhance student engagement. He looks forward to connecting with families throughout the year and invites them to stop by to say hello.
