Saco Middle School (SMS) Bobcat Players proudly present The Wizard of Oz production on Thursday, December 11, 2025, and Friday, December 12, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Saco Middle School’s Cafeteria. The 60-minute comedy, adapted by Erin Detrick, is designed for middle and high-school-aged performers and brings this beloved classic to life with a fresh, fast-paced twist. The SMS Bobcat Players’ cast and crew includes 50 students led by Drama Club Director Megan Orlandella.
“I continue to be in awe of the students who audition and perform in the chosen productions,” said Megan Orlandella, SMS Theater Director. "The students have poured their hearts into this production, and their dedication shines through in every scene. It’s a testament to their hard work and passion for the arts!”
In this imaginative one-act adaptation, Dorothy’s journey through the Land of Oz is filled with humor, adventure, and heart. Alongside her new friends—the Scarecrow, Tin Wood Man, and Cowardly Lion—she travels to the Emerald City to meet the Great Oz. When Oz demands a steep price for sending her home, a perilous new adventure begins, capturing the essence of L. Frank Baum's classic story, while offering new ensemble possibilities. The minimalist set design and imaginative staging allow the young performers to shine in their roles.
Both shows are open to the public with general admission seating. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children/seniors, and can be purchased at the door.
